Paints and Coatings

For virtually all coating systems, solvents and alcohols are an important, sometimes irreplaceable auxiliary. Their jobs are complex: they provide a high dissolution capacity for the coating constituents and ensure gloss and flow of the paints. Specific mixing of various products enables the optimum volatility to be set.

Cleaning materials

Oxygenated solvents are key components in many cleaning materials. They improve dissolving power, especially for fats and oils. Their low toxicity, high environmental compatibility and good biodegradability are of crucial importance. In household products, 1-3% of oxygenated solvents in the formulation is generally sufficient. |

In the production of pharmaceuticals, solvents are used as extractants, amongst other things. Oxygenated solvents offer the low solubility required at the same time as high dissolution capacity for organic substances. |
